This afternoon, another important event happened with the visit of important delegates from Non-Commissioned Officer School, Philippine Army; the Sergeant Major Class and Drill Master Class. This is the second batches from said courses provided with our unique WWII Historical Tours and brief lecture on the role of Filipino NCOs who fought in WWII in our area.
Bamban and Bamban Hills became one of the toughest fights in Liberation 1945 in the Philippines. Even before the outbreak of the war, many sons of the town were already in the Service either in the Philippine Scouts or Philippine Commonwealth Army that later saw action in the Defense of Luzon, the Battle of Bataan and Corregidor. During the Japanese Occupation, Bamban was one of the hot-bed of resistance operating near the massive Clark Air Center.
Bamban Battalion and other guerrilla forces in Tarlac and northwest Pampanga become active in fighting silent war, until the return of American forces led by General Douglas MacArthur. Our Aeta Negrito Indigenous People had a share in such struggle for freedom during the darkest days of WWII. By 1945, Bamban was a major battlefield, where Filipino and Aeta Negrito guerrillas and soldiers aided the American divisions that led to the ultimate victory. Thus, with our Bamban Museum and the WWII sites preserved, this town has to offer for WWII History and the story of heroism of our people.
Our sincere thanks to the members of the delegates from both courses who participated in the event, MSgt. Federico Aquino and to Non-Commissioned Officer School, TRADOC Philippine Army for choosing Bamban WWII Museum and our WWII sites as part of their Informational Program Visit.
These are some of the photos taken during our WWII Educational Tours in Bamban.
